CQG Trader supports these firewall configurations:
• Network address translation
• Dynamically assigned ports on the client side
CQG Trader supports SOCKS 4, SOCKS 5, and HTTP proxy services as well as a Winsock redirector, such as Microsoft® Proxy Server 2.0.
To connect through a proxy server you must modify configuration settings, by changing the configuration files, following the successful installation of CQG Trader.
Configuring CQG Trader for Use with Proxy Servers
To be used through a proxy, CQG Trader requires both HTTP and SOCKS proxy services.
CQG Trader uses Internet Explorer (IE) default HTTP proxy settings. You can override default values by editing the CQG.Trader.Application.exe.config file. If set up in IE, Web Proxy Auto-Discovery (WPAD) & proxy.pac configuration are also supported.
SOCKs is configured in the NetsConfiguration.ini file.
To override HTTP proxy
1. Open CQG.Trader.Application.exe.config. Default location: C:\Program Files\CQG\CQG Trader\Bin.
2. Replace <defaultProxy> section with:
<defaultProxy>
<proxy usesystemdefault="true" proxyaddress=http://PROXY:PORT bypassonlocal="true" />
</defaultProxy>
Replace PROXY with the name or IP address of your HTTP proxy server.
Replace PORT with the proxy port number, typically 8080.
3. Save the file and restart CQG Trader.
To bypass proxy using direct connection to CQG Trader
1. Open CQG.Trader.Application.exe.config. Default location: C:\Program Files\CQG\CQG Trader\Bin.
2. Replace the <defaultProxy> section with:
<defaultProxy>
<bypasslist>
<add address="[a-z]*$" />
</bypasslist>
</defaultProxy>
3. Save the file and restart CQG Trader.
To bypass proxy using configuration in PAC file
Set up an exceptions list in proxy.pac to bypass the proxy. For example:
function FindProxyForURL(url, host) {
// connection to CQG servers via HTTPS don't need a proxy:
if (shExpMatch(host, "*.cqgtrader.com"))
{
return "DIRECT";
}
if (shExpMatch(host, "*.cqgnet.com"))
{
return "DIRECT";
}
if (shExpMatch(host, "*.cqgrdnet.com"))
{
return "DIRECT";
}
//rest of file
}
To configure SOCKS proxy
1. Open NetsConfiguration.ini Default location: C:\Users\<user>\AppData\Local\CQG\CQG Trader.
2. Add:
ProxyType=SOCKS5
SOCKS5_Host=%PROXY%
SOCKS5_Port=%PORT%
SOCKS5_DNS=1
SOCKS5_User=%USER_NAME%
SOCKS5_Password=%USER_PASSWORD%
Replace PROXY with the name or IP address of your HTTP proxy server.
Replace PORT with the proxy port number.
Optionally, replace USER_NAME with username for the proxy. Omitted if no user authentication.
Optionally, replace USER_PASSWORD with user's password for the proxy. Omitted if no user authentication.
3. Save the file and restart CQG Trader.
Microsoft’s 3.5 .NET Framework SP 1 is required. If this version of the .NET framework is not detected during installation, the system notifies you. Note that COM and ActiveX components are registered during installation.
CQG remotely manages entitlements associated with CQG Trader. Each user has a specific set of entitlements that are accurately reflected in CQG’s monthly billing. CQG is able to flag customer accounts to prevent any unauthorized entitlement.
